When everything Flips on you...

Today was well planned out. The girls had their weekly gymnastics, I would have an ultrasound, then my midwife appointment, then a chiropractor appointment...all that needed to happen in town scheduled for today...of course when plans are made, the world laughs in my face...mother nature laughs in my face.

First off, the kiddos got sick and weren't feeling great (including Brex which meant he stayed home from school). So we didn't make it to gymnastics (seriously a bummer because the girls love it). Then it decided to snow and snow some more...of course it likes to snow on the days I plan to go to town. . . I didn't feel like it was a good idea to cancel three medical appointments so we were trying to figure out a way to still make it happen with all the kids home.

Originally, we had planned to pack up and meet Brian in town. He would take a long lunch and spend time with the kids in the car (not the most exciting) and reduce spreading their sick germs. Luckily we received a blessing in disguise with the snow, and Brian's dad was able to come watch the kids while I went to town.

Brian took the time to come to my ultrasound so he could see what was going on too (concerns with baby's kidneys, but we won't know more until he is born). However, we learned baby boy has flipped head up (I was told he was head down 2 weeks ago). This came as a shock and a bit of a disappointment but we aren't throwing in the towel yet. Luckily, we learned this before I went into labor and can possibly fix it.

Sidenote: Brexdon decided to flip before we made it to the hospital to have him and he ended up being born via emergency C-section. We are trying to avoid that occurrence again.

We went to my midwife appointment and talked about everything. Of course, baby not being head down was the main topic and due to that distraction, we forgot to do a test needed. Oops. By the time this was realized, I was already headed to my chiropractor appointment (something that could potentially encourage baby to flip) for help with awful back pain. So after my chiropractor appointment, I returned to my midwife office for the necessary test.

So yes, our world 'flipped' on us today but we are going to see the bright side of things..such as how blessed we are to discover this early and to have help from family. I can't imagine trying to do all this with the kids in tow. We are going to try all the natural ways to encourage baby to flip and if that doesn't work, we'll have an external cephalic version (trying to manually flip baby from the outside) next week. They tried it with Brexdon and it didn't work and was mega painful. I'm told that it's more likely to be successful since I've gone through a few pregnancies now. So we are hoping and praying.

Moral of the story: don't get too stuck on your plans. Be willing to adapt.
